Hunter x Hunter

Gon wants to find the father who left him to become a Hunter, a license that opens doors to almost anything. Madhouse takes Yoshihiro Togashi's manga and lets it grow from a bright adventure into something colder and stranger. The fights run on a power system with real rules, and the series treats those rules with the seriousness of a strategy game. Villains arrive who are not evil so much as alien, and the show refuses to soften them for you. It is long, but it earns the length.
