Released in Spanish as El Planeta Libre, this is the gentle French comedy that quietly went viral decades after it flopped. Mila comes from a planet that gave up money, machines and hurry long ago, and she volunteers to visit Earth, which her people consider a backward case. Serreau wrote, directed and scored it herself. Most of the satire is light, even silly, but underneath sits a real argument about how much of modern life is noise we agreed to. It is naive on purpose, and that naivety is the whole pitch.
