Green Blood ran in Weekly Young Magazine from 2011 to 2013, five volumes. It is a Western set in the immigrant slums of 1860s New York, following two Irish brothers. The older one, Brad, is a hired gun who hides his work from his gentle younger brother Luke, who only wants the two of them to leave for the frontier and start clean. Kakizaki draws it like a film, big inky contrasts, real research behind the period detail, gunfights staged with weight. It is a familiar Western shape done with unusual craft. There is no official English release, so legal copies mean import or the French and Spanish editions.
