The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (Soundtrack)

Koji Kondo, Toru Minegishi·120 min - 50 tracks

Toru Minegishi wrote most of this under Koji Kondo's supervision, and it is the most somber the series has sounded. The world map theme is a wide, sad horn melody that fits a Hyrule the game keeps draining of color. The Hyrule Field music reacts to your horse, speeding and swelling as you ride, so the score moves with you instead of looping in the background. There is plenty of dread in the Twilight realm tracks, all muffled drums and uneasy strings. For a game aimed partly at kids, the music takes its sadness seriously.
