Underworld had become famous when Born Slippy .NUXX closed Trainspotting and turned into an anthem. For the follow-up they spent three years in the studio, scrapped most of it, and started over. Beaucoup Fish is long and various: hard techno, ambient drifts, and pop tracks like Push Upstairs and King of Snake, which builds for nine minutes on a bassline borrowed from Donna Summer's I Feel Love. Karl Hyde's lyrics are torn-up overheard fragments, sung more than chanted.
