

Tracey Thorn and Ben Watt had made jazzy folk-pop for over a decade when Todd Terry remixed their song Missing into a global club hit. Rather than ignore it, they followed it: Walking Wounded is built on drum and bass and trip-hop rhythms, with Thorn's cool, clear voice over the top. Watt had nearly died from a rare illness a few years earlier, and the album carries that closeness to loss without ever wallowing in it.
