Wish You Were Here

Pink Floyd·44 min · 5 tracks

By 1975 Pink Floyd were rich, exhausted, and barely speaking, and they made an album about the man who was no longer there. Syd Barrett founded the band, wrote their first hits, and fell apart on LSD before any of the money arrived. Shine On You Crazy Diamond, a nine part tribute to him, is split in half to open and close the record. In between sit two songs sneering at the music business and the title track, which became the one Pink Floyd song everybody with an acoustic guitar eventually learns.
