Meddle

In 1971 Pink Floyd were three years past losing Syd Barrett and still not sure what kind of band they were. This is where they worked it out. Side one holds five short experiments, some brilliant, one involving a dog. Side two is a single piece called Echoes that fills the entire side, and everything people mean by the Pink Floyd sound, the patience, the slow builds, the long instrumental stretches, starts there. It sits exactly between their psychedelic years and Dark Side of the Moon.
