In April 1994 Andrés Bobe, the guitarist who founded La Ley, died in a motorcycle accident in Santiago. The band decided to continue. Singer Beto Cuevas later said Bobe came to him in a dream and told him: you can see me, but to the rest of the world I am invisible. That gave the 1995 album its name. El Duelo, the first single, went to number one across Latin America and turned a Chilean synth rock band into a continental one.
