Lisa Ono was born in São Paulo, moved to Tokyo at ten, and grew up between the two. Dream, from 1999, is her biggest album: thirteen American songs from the forties and fifties, In the Mood, As Time Goes By, Sentimental Journey, rearranged as bossa nova with Brazilian guitarist Oscar Castro-Neves. It went platinum in Japan and sold over 200,000 copies. Big band tunes built to fill ballrooms are played here softly enough for a kitchen.
