Tame Impala is one man, Kevin Parker, who writes, plays, sings, and produces everything alone in a home studio in Perth. On Currents he dropped the psychedelic rock that built his name and went fully electronic: drum machines, fat synth bass, his voice pitched up and layered. The songs are about change, about feeling yourself become a different person and not being able to stop it. Let It Happen, the eight-minute opener, is literally about surrendering to that. It made him a pop producer wanted by Rihanna, Kanye, and Lady Gaga.
