I:Cube is Nicolas Chaix, a Parisian who became a name in 1996 when Daft Punk remixed his first single, Disco Cubizm. By this third album, from 2003 on Versatile, he had stopped making dancefloor records and started making whatever he wanted: home-listening electronics that drift through house, dub, hip hop, and lounge across thirteen tracks. The strangest line on the credits is real: Can You Deal With That features RZA, the producer of the Wu-Tang Clan, rapping over French house.
