By 1992 Sade had nothing left to prove, so the band made its most patient record. Nine songs, mostly ballads, opening with No Ordinary Love: seven minutes about loving someone more than they love you back, which won a Grammy and got a video with Adu as a mermaid. The production strips down further than before, drum machines mixed soft, bass up front, the voice closer than ever. After the tour the band vanished for eight years, leaving this as a long goodbye. It became one of their biggest sellers anyway.
