Rough Cuts

Parov Stelar is Marcus Füreder, a DJ and producer from Linz, Austria, who started his own label in 2004 and released this debut on it the same year. The recipe: scratchy samples from old jazz and swing records, club beats laid underneath, the dust and crackle left in. People later named that genre electro swing and credited him with inventing it. This first album is slower and smokier than the festival anthems that made him famous, closer to late night lounge music than to a dance floor, and better company at home than the hits.
