Usogui, which means The Lie Eater, follows Baku Madarame, a gambler so addicted to risk that he stakes his life on rigged games and then dismantles the rigging from inside. The hook is a shadow group called Kakerou that referees illegal high-stakes bets, stepping in to kill anyone who breaks the wager, which means the games are deadly serious by design. Toshio Sako builds elaborate, rules-heavy contests, hangman, a tower-climbing duel, an escape from a collapsing building, and the fun is watching Baku read his opponents and bend each game's logic. The early art is rough, but Sako's puzzle-craft and escalating stakes are the draw.
